Hailey Hines produced the Sandpoint Style Showcase, a runway fashion show in Sandpoint, Idaho. This was a very successful premiere to a series of shows that may follow. It was held at the Panida Theater in Sandpoint, and was well attended. It was co-sponsored by Planted Roots Productions and offered fashions from several North Idaho boutiques with a number of models from the region. These models included many I consider the local stars of modeling (through my limited knowledge via Facebook) such as Hailey, Taylor Lunde, Emily Simpson, Mikayla McCoy, and frankly, the success of the show was such that every model came off as a star in this performance. If you Google the Showcase, I suspect you can find the complete list of participants. All were young women, and competent runway walkers.
The concept was simple. Enter stage left. Pose center stage. Exit stage right down stairs to audience level. Cross to stage left. Strike pose then circle backstage via audience. And every other model entered stage left or stage right, and did a mirror image depending on which side they entered. This made the show considerably more visually interesting and interactive than a typical out and back runway presentation.
I was there for fun…no assignments just wanted to meet a couple of the models for future shoots and try to capture a few shots. Mission accomplished. The show was documented by a professional video crew, so the work was done. These were simply some fun shots, but when you strike poses with the drama and elegance that Emily Simpson showed, the shots elevated from fun to useful in my book. Mikayla McCoy had a marvelous up-do, equally dramatic. Great attention was spent on hair and makeup for the entire cast.

And a second fine pose from Emily Simpson. She paused that key couple of seconds to allow for photography, so low light did not prevent getting the shot.
It is my understanding that there may be another show this fall. I’d suggest it as a fun activity, and while I am not a fashion critic, I think the people who do follow fashion will find much to admire here.
